Published in 2011 to mark the tenth anniversary of the popular “China Expat” www.chinaexpat.com portal, the book had an initial print run of 10,000 copies and was distributed free at celebratory events throughout China. Published in full colour, with many photos, the book is divided into five main sections:
It contains just under 50 of the most popular articles written by the contributors as they appeared online over that decade. The initial print run was exhausted within a month, following which the book was made available, as a gift free online to whoever wanted a copy.
Chris Devonshire-Ellis said at the time “This book represents the huge diversity of life and experience that China offers the expatriate, detailing laugh out loud moments, historical events, and aspects of Chinese culture as seen through Western eyes.”
